HI HUNTER! NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION AT HOME

napier newborn photographer Eva Bradley

As a Hawke’s Bay newborn photographer who specialises in photographing babies at home, I’ve become pretty familiar with the request to incorporate the family pooch into some of the photos. But my session with wee Hunter produced a first….furry feline, Dwayne, joined in (quite uninvited I might add) and added a gorgeous little slice of family history to the photo shoot.

It’s impossible to know what to expect with a baby photography session because babies make their own rules and generally make them up as they go. Sometimes they stay wide awake and resist all efforts to settle them down for sleepy shots. Other times they don’t wake up at all no matter how many times we move them for new setups. Almost never do they do what Hunter did….stay curiously awake and interested in the photographer, then drift off to sleep for the rest of the session, waking just in time for some sweet shots with the grandparents before asking for a feed just as I was done. What a LEGEND!

A newborn photography session at home is a special way to remember an amazing but fleeting time in a new family’s life. We are all able to take our time, incorporate the new nursery and (of course!) include the fur babies when they photobomb us. Says Hunter’s mum, Sharné…

“We knew that Hunter would grow up really fast and we wanted professional photos to remember this special time. Friends that had done it with Eva highly recommended the experience and friends that hadn’t done one actually regretted not doing it. Eva was amazing, very accommodating and great with Hunter. We had so many lovely photos it was difficult to choose our favourite!”

A BIG thanks from me to Hunter and his family for allowing me to share these beautiful moments. To see more family portrait and newborn photography blogs, FOLLOW THIS LINK.
